why the groundswell is happening now..

The groundswell trend is not a flash in the pan. This is an important irreversible, completely different way for people to relate to companies and to each other.
Why is happening now? The groundswell comes from the collision of three forces: people, technology, and economics.
Let's talk about the third force. Online economics: on the Internet, traffic equals money.

By 2009, fourteen years into the Web era, online advertising had reached $23.3 billion in the United States.

After I read this chapter, I wanted to write a blog about advertising, with statistical data, and to provide a couple of examples.

The United States has a lot of famous brands. The whole world loves and uses them. Every year, America spends a lot of money for internet advertising of these brands.

This is the official US data which is found in the Business Insider. This jump of 22% or $12.9 billion between 2015 and 2016 is the largest in history, both in percentage terms and in dollars. Since 2012, revenues have nearly doubled.

Every day people spend a lot of money for advertising. Therefore, it is one of the most important things for a business. It is necessary for businesses to advertise their products.
Nowadays, people can make a lot of money with advertising on the internet. Web advertising can be a highly effective form of obtaining revenue. This YouTube video provides instructions on earning money through web advertising apps.

Bob Lutz (Groundswell ch1), provides another example of how web advertising can be helpful to sustaining and strengthening businesses, in his advertisement of General Motors on the Internet. He advertised the GM company on the Internet by starting a blog called FastLane.

This is an example of how advertising on the Internet is one of the most effective ways to attract the attention of customers. Bob was able to establish communication with consumers through the blog.
Every day we can see a lot of advertising with famous singers, actors or bloggers. But would you trust these people?

When I watch a good advertisement and I like the product, I will often go and buy the goods.

One of the best advertisements I have seen was done by IKEA. You can see this video on YouTube (below).

The pregnancy test works as follows: the readers can take a pregnancy test,
and if the test shows a positive result, the price of the crib indicated in the advertisement
will be almost halved. The company issued a print ad for a baby crib, in which
 a pregnancy test was integrated.

All people perceive advertising in their own way, so it is important to work on advertising carefully so as not to offend people. For example people did not like this video and IKEA got a lot of bad reviews.

Now I want to tell you some interesting and important facts about advertising.
  1. By the time a person in the United States is 65 years old, he will have seen an estimated two million television commercials.
  2. In fashion advertising, women are often pictured lying on bearskin rugs, wearing furs and feathers, or dressed in tight-fitting leather clothing. Some researchers criticize these kinds of ads because they feature women as “prey.”
  3. Women’s bodies are often “dismembered” in ads and shown only as “body parts.” This type of representation has been criticized for objectifying women and contributing to the underlying culture of violence toward women.
  4. In 1900, the standard billboard was created in America, creating a billboard boon along streets and highways
  5. Many researchers argue that advertising is the most powerful art form on Earth.
  6. Over $15 billion a year is spent in advertisements directed toward children in the U.S.
  7. Though the commercial “1984,” which launched the Apple Macintosh computer, ran just one time on American television, during the Super Bowl, it has had a lasting impact on advertising. Directed by Ridley Scott, the commercial was the first example of “event marketing,” or when a promotion deserves as much coverage as the product itself.

Groundswell is a good motivational push. It can help both novice businessmen and bloggers. It helps a lot of those specialties and industries that can not exist without advertising. Internet Advertising, as the book tells us, is gaining momentum more and more, because our whole life is connected to the Internet. In several chapters of this book, there is a central focus on advertising. Because we come across advertising every day and everywhere in transport, on the street, in the store, on TV, and on our gadgets. Each advertiser should monitor their online reputation and produce only qualitative advertisements and commercials on the market. I found this video about online reputation management on YouTube

What do you think about Web Advertising?

How should they manage their online reputation?
